Description

Approximate Time: Four Hours

She's a badass in two jackets with an angled bob cut - I love her already. Here's the unofficial introduction of Violet, a revamp of an older character (by a different name) for a RWBY RP Group! (Yes, another RP Group).

I actually had to draw up her design three different times before I settled on this one. The first one kept to the original design i'd done of her years ago (prior to revamp) however upon drawing it twice I found it wasn't working at all. So I ended up trying this entirely different design, just to see where it took me. And well - It suited her perfectly.

As I drew it I was able to think of more things such as her demeanor, sense of humor, a couple of quirks and even the vague idea of a last name.

Like her original design, I want the outfit. It's perfection.

I also realized that I didn't do any sort of vein/texture to the skin, which I'm okay with. Although it gives it a more realistic appearance - I'm not quite sure I really like it with my style. Plus I also dig the shading the way it is already, so I don't really want to touch it.

For anyone who's wondering what is on her garters, it's (explosive) classic camera film. Her weapon is a camera to mallet that I've got to draw up, which is an ode to her first concept.

Her boots are also hella rad, I wanted to go with steel toe boots because I felt she'd wear them with authority. The purple was a bit of a risk I felt - but it paid off.

My favorite parts are probably her hair (and color of it) along with the shirt and skirt thing (it's cool). I'm also fairly content with how the coloring turned out in general on this.

I'm aiming to try and get her app up by early November (it's being pushed aside to finish various events for things).

I would appreciate constructive criticism on this.

100 word minimum, certainly do-able. I'm not sure how you want this to be critiqued so I'll break it down into two sections.

ANATOMY:

Let's get this out of the way (Since i know you've had frustration over those who have tried to correct you on this topic). Usually most of the humans you draw tend to have somewhat longer necks compared to humans in reality, this piece is an exception. However, I noticed the chest area above the characters breasts is a lot taller than usual. This gives a somewhat awkward feel to her form. Even if you aren't going for realistic anatomy, I suggest you stay aware of the distance of a characters chin and chest in future drawing. Other than that, everything looks anatomically pleasing to the eye.

CHARACTER DESIGN/COLORING SCHEME

I may be biased in saying this, but I love the purple and black in this. The tiny hints of gold/yellow and ripped clothing are great subtle details that really better the drawing. The character is designed very well visually, her outfit is minimalist yet stands out as unique. There are few flaws in the way you have designed the character and I can't seem to pick any out.

SUMMARY:

Overall, this character is very well drawn and is a fine example of your style. The area between her chest and chin is awkwardly large but that's about the only flaw in this that I can pick out. The character itself is creatively made and certainly stands out in her design and overall structure. The pose is minimal and simple and her outfit is colorful yet dark.

PS: I put 5 stars on everything because I have no idea what "Vision" or "Impact" are supposed to be.
